Seeing a urologist in Rabat, Morocco, when you travel from abroad
Dr Najib Abakka sees patients for urology consultations at his practice in Hassan, in downtown Rabat. He consults in English and French.
This page is for patients who live outside Morocco, for example in South Africa, West Africa or elsewhere, and who are considering travelling to Rabat for a urological opinion or treatment. It explains how to prepare, without promising anything about your own case, which can only be assessed at a consultation.
A consultation that needs preparation
Travelling for care takes more organisation than a local appointment: medical records, travel, a companion if needed, and follow-up once you are back home. The points below are general preparation advice, not guaranteed services: to find out what the practice can do in your situation, contact the secretary.
This page is for information only and does not replace a consultation. If you have severe pain, fever, cannot pass urine or have heavy blood in your urine, go to an emergency department near you without delay: do not postpone urgent care to organise a trip.
What the practice treats
The practice covers adult and paediatric urology. These pages describe the areas of expertise and the techniques used:
- Urology expertiseProstate, stones, uro-oncology, andrology, functional urology.
- Robotic and minimally invasive surgeryWhat it is, when it is indicated, and the patient journey.
- About Dr Najib AbakkaTraining, qualifications and areas of practice.
- Medical guidesProstate, kidney stones, blood in the urine, second opinions.
How to organise your visit, step by step
- 01
Contact the practice
Call the secretary or write on WhatsApp (Morocco country code: +212). Say why you wish to consult, which country you live in and the dates you have in mind.
- 02
Gather your medical file
A summary of your medical history, current treatments, allergies, reports, PSA, blood tests, ultrasound, CT scan, MRI, biopsy and previous operative reports. For imaging, ask for a complete digital copy (DICOM files). Bring these documents to the consultation. If you would like to send them beforehand, first ask the secretary whether this is possible and through which channel.
- 03
Ask your questions before booking the trip
Whether you want a first opinion or a second opinion after a diagnosis made elsewhere, contact the secretary before buying a ticket to find out about appointment availability. Depending on your situation, it is the doctor who decides what can be prepared remotely and what requires an in-person consultation.
- 04
Plan your stay and your return
Depending on any procedure, bringing a companion is advisable. Leaving the care facility does not mean you can fly the same day: your return date must be confirmed by the doctor. Before leaving Rabat, ask which check-ups are needed, where to have them done and who should receive the results.
Entry requirements and travel
Entry requirements for Morocco (visa, passport, permitted length of stay) depend on your nationality and can change. Check them with the Moroccan embassy or consulate in your country, or with your airline, before buying any ticket. The practice cannot guarantee them.
Rabat is served by Rabat-Salé airport; Casablanca Mohammed V international airport is the other possible point of arrival. Check with airlines for the routes and schedules currently available from your city.
Fees, insurance and reimbursement
Fees are not published on this website. Ask the practice directly, preferably before booking your trip. If you have health insurance, ask your insurer before leaving about cover for treatment abroad and the documents you will need.
Privacy of your health data
Your medical documents are sensitive data. Never post them on social media or a forum, and do not send them without first asking the practice how to transmit them. This website does not collect medical records.
